All about us

Comberbach Pre-school is a community run pre-school. We are a charity and we thrive thanks to the dedication of our paid staff and a committee of parent volunteers.

We aim to provide high quality, affordable and accessible childcare to children aged 21/2 to 5 years old, in a safe and supportive environment and to work in partnership with parents in the provision of this childcare.

Staff

Here at Comberbach Pre-school we have a very committed and hard-working staff, comprising:

  • Supervisor
  • Deputy supervisor (also Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and Safeguarding of Children Co-ordinator)
  • 5 Pre-school assistants

Committee

We encourage parents to become actively involved in the running of the group by becoming members of the committee. These committee members are essentially trustees of the charity and are responsible for the effective management of Pre-school. The committee includes a Chairperson, Treasurer and Admissions Secretary who have active day-to-day roles in the running of Pre-school. Other positions are Secretary, Minutes Secretary, Milk Returns Officer and Fund Raisers. We find most parents initially join as a fund raiser; this is a good way to find out how the Pre-school runs and be involved in the decision making process, plus it’s a great opportunity to meet other parents. Committee meetings are held generally at Comberbach Primary School once every half term.

Session activities
While at Pre-school your child will be taking part in lots of carefully planned play activities within the government’s ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ - a framework for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. We make sure that the children develop at the right pace for them, learning through high quality play that’s tailored to their needs. Your child’s well-being is central to all we do.

Currently we have some extra activites at preschool. This includes Debbie Sutton (Debbie Sutton school of Dance) who comes in on a Wednesday morning to do a half hour session of dancing with the children.

We also have football coach Brian coming in on a Thursday afternoon to do a football session with the children attending the 'Rising 5's' session.

Both activities have proved very successful and popular with the children.

Key Workers

Soon after your child has begun pre-school he/she will be allocated a ‘key worker’. Your children’s ‘key worker’ will work closely with your child and keep a folder of what they are learning, and build on their interests and abilities through play. Parents are free to view those folders at any time, and we do hold regular meetings with parents. We would appreciate any further information from any other settings your child may attend. If you have any concerns or anything you would like to discuss with your child’s ‘key worker’, please let us know.
